Inclement Weather Procedures Regarding School Closings/Delays
School closings and delays are determined by the Emergency Weather Review Team (consisting of the Superintendent, Transportation Director, and Maintenance Director) after consulting with local public safety officials, the Georgia Emergency Management Agency, Hall County School System, and Gainesville City School System officials. Factors that may determine school closings or delays include hazardous road conditions, snow or ice accumulation, flooding, unfavorable weather conditions, unfavorable facility conditions (loss of power or heat), harsh temperature, and extreme wind chill factor.
In the event of inclement weather, the Emergency Weather Review Team will travel on designated routes and assess road conditions to determine if roads are conducive for safe bus travel. The team will then decide whether to proceed with school closing or delay with regard to the safety of students and employees.
Parents and employees will be notified of school closing or delay by 5:30 a.m. Notifications will be sent via the School Messenger messaging system, district webpage, GCSS Mobile App, district newsletter, social media, and the local media.
Parents and employees should continue to monitor updates regarding school closings and delays through the local media and the district website.

Students who do not have internet access can complete work distributed by teachers previously or will be given the opportunity to complete the work upon returning to school. Students are asked to complete this work in order to be counted present for the school day.
